Udhampur:
People in Udhampur were troubled by power cuts and bills running into thousands every month. But, by joining ‘Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme’, people here are taking advantage of 24 hours electricity facility. The happy thing is that now the electricity bill of the people here is less than Rs 100 every month. IANS spoke to the beneficiaries of ‘Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme’.

During the conversation, Shekhar Modi told IANS that the ‘Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme’ run by PM Modi is providing a lot of convenience. There were many power cuts in Udhampur. Due to installation of solar panels, power cuts have also reduced and children are getting enough time to study. This month the bill for installing solar panels has been only Rs 12. Earlier it used to cost two to three thousand rupees. Subsidy is also available for installation of 95 kilowatt solar panel. Every month the bill is coming down by at least Rs 2500 to Rs 3 thousand.

Engineer Sunil Dutt said that under ‘Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme’, solar panels are installed on the roofs of houses. He said that the problem of power cuts will also be solved with solar power. There is good response from people regarding this scheme, about 700 registrations have come. Solar panels have been installed at 30 places and work is going on at 60. Up to 60 percent subsidy is available in this. He has appealed to the people to take advantage of this scheme in maximum numbers and get solar panels installed on the roofs of their houses.

Kamla told that earlier the electricity bill used to be Rs 4 to 5 thousand per month. But, after installing solar panels, now the bill is coming only to the tune of Rs. 1000. There has been a lot of benefit from PM Surya Ghar Yojana. This is a great scheme of PM Modi. Subsidy is also available from the government for installing solar panels at home.

Earlier, when electricity went off, there used to be a lot of problems. But this scheme provides electricity 24 hours a day and I think everyone should take advantage of this scheme.

Nidhi Gupta said that installation of solar panels is providing a lot of relief. There were a lot of cuts during summer. Children used to face problems. But this scheme provides electricity 24 hours a day. Problems have reduced.

Radhika said that before this scheme the bill used to be Rs 5 thousand. Now a bill of Rs 12 is coming every month. Can also run AC, cooler. Many thanks to PM Modi for starting this scheme
