Lakhan has finally achieved justice in a legal battle of 48 years. He was convicted on charges of murder in a village quarrel 48 years ago and in 1982 he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Sessions Court. This decision has given him a new beginning of justice and a new beginning of life.

This incident was from Gaurae village of Kaushambi police station area. In 1977, Lakhan Lal, who hails from the village, had a fight with Prabhu and Jagan. According to Lakhan Lal, on August 6, 1977, 10-12 people from the deceased side came to Lakhan’s house after drinking alcohol. Everyone had sticks in their hands. When he started fighting, sticks started running from Lakhan. Prabhu Saroj was hurt in this fight and later died. In this case, the police filed a charge -case against Lakhan and sent him to jail. Lakhan said that a few days later he was released on bail. After hearing 5 years, in 1982, the sessions court convicted Lakhan after hearing the case and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Lakhan turned to the High Court Allahabad to hear the entire case. Lakhan’s lawyer said that there was a shortage of many important evidence in this case and the court reviewed the case seriously. Finally, the court acquitted Lakhan as innocent after a 48 -year -long battle. Lakhan Saroj shared his age and experience of long -term legal conflict, saying, “I never left hope. My hard work to get justice paid off. This is the biggest day of my life.”

Purnima Pranjal, Additional District Judge of Kaushambi and Secretary of Legal Services Authority, said that in December 2024, Lakhan Pasi was brought to the District Prison Manjhanpur by the High Court warrant. Because, his appeal was pending. The High Court needed that person to decide the appeal. We served his warrant through the CGM court and then sent him to jail. Lakhan remained in jail for about 20 days even after being acquitted. On asking the reason, Purnima says- Release Parwana could not reach the district jail on time, so it was delayed. The district prison cannot leave anyone without getting the release.
