Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate the party’s new headquarters ‘Indira Bhawan’ on January 15. For the last five decades, the party’s headquarters was at 24 Akbar Road. The name of the new headquarters of Congress is Indira Bhawan, which is located at 9-A Kotla Marg. Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate the new headquarters of Congress on the morning of 15 January. For this, the program will start at 9:30 in the morning. Many leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi will be present in it.
According to the report, the fabric of the new office has been woven by Priyanka Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi has a big role in finalizing this office along with the architect. From finalizing the map to painting, pictures, curtains and furniture, Priyanka herself has made choices. According to sources, Priyanka Gandhi has also given place to many old photographs in the new office.

Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal posted on Twitter on Tuesday, ‘On January 15, 2025, at 10 am, in the presence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi ji will visit the new AICC headquarters Indira Gandhi. Will inaugurate Gandhi Bhavan. Its construction was started during his tenure as Congress President.

He said that Congress Working Committee (CWC) members, permanent and special invitees, Congress Parliamentary Party officials, AICC officials, Central Election Committee members, State Congress Committee chiefs, CLP leaders, MPs, as well as former Chief Ministers and former Senior leaders including Union Minister will be present on this occasion.
According to Venugopal, the Indira Gandhi Bhawan located at ‘9A, Kotla Marg’ has been designed to meet the growing needs of the party and its leaders, with modern facilities to support administrative, organizational and strategic functions.
He said, ‘This iconic building reflects the vision of the Congress Party while paying tribute to its extraordinary past, which has shaped the political and social fabric of India.’ The work on the new headquarters of Congress was going on for the last several years.
Sources said the party will not for now vacate its current headquarters ’24, Akbar Road’, which has been the headquarters of the Congress (I) since its formation in 1978. Initially, administration, accounts and some other offices will be shifted to the new offices, sources said. Will be shifted to the building.
Offices of various front organizations of the Congress – Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and NSUI and departments and cells of the party can also be shifted to the new premises.
Sources said the bungalow at 24, Akbar Road in Lutyens’ Delhi was converted into the AICC headquarters after the party’s defeat in the 1977 Lok Sabha elections.
