The Heart of London Business Alliance announced today that a new statue is going to join the thrilling ‘Scenes in the Square’ movie trail located in Lester Square, London, and the honor has been received by Yash Raj Films’ historic blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ). This will be the statue of the first Indian film to be installed in Leester Square, London! The announcement would also be a symbol of the beginning of the celebration of DDLJ’s completion of 30 years, a timeless and multi-proclaimed romantic comedy, which also launched the direction of Aditya Chopra.
This bronze statue will showcase two Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in a prestigious pose of DDLJ. This year, it is scheduled to unveil in the spring. Today’s announcement is proof of how much this film is liked by more than five million British South Asian community. DDLJ is an important part of pop culture for India and South Asians around the world.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Jayeni follows two NRIs, Raj and Simran, and their love story, which extends into Europe and India, and begins with a train journey from Kings Cross Station. This place is even more suitable because the lecester square appears in that scene of DDLJ when Raj and Simran collide with each other for the first time. However, they do not recognize each other and then the journey to Europe begins. In that scene, the two major cinema houses of Leester Square are shown prominently, Raj Wo stands in front of the cinema, and Simran Odion passes near the Leester Square. The new statue will be installed on the eastern terres, outside the Odion cinema, and will pay tribute to that scene. The film also includes other places in London such as Horsgards Avenue, Hyde Park, Tower Bridge and Kings Cross Station.

In the UK, the cultural significance of the film remains intact even today, and a new musical cum Fall in Love the DDLJ Musical based on it is going to start at Manchester Opera House on 29 May 2025. With over 140 million followers on social media, the film’s lead actor Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most favorite actors of our time.
The stars of DDLJ Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol will now be involved in the ‘Sense in the Square’ with international cinema veterans, including ten other film icons of the last 100 years. The statue of DDLJ will now be installed with prestigious characters like Harry Potter, Laurel and Hardy, Bugs Bani, Jean Kelly (Singing in Rain), Mary Popins, Mr. Bean, Padington and DC Superheroz Batman and Wonder Woman.
