After the meeting of PM Modi and Chinfing, both countries got positive results: Wang Yi

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday that there has been “positive progress” in India and China’s relations and has received encouraging results at all levels after the end of the military deadlock that lasted for more than four years in East Ladakh for more than four years. Wang made this comment during his annual press conference here. He was asked how China sees bilateral relations after ending the long -standing deadlock in relations between the two countries.

He said that after a successful meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Chinfing in Kazan city of Russia, there has been positive progress in China-India relations last year. Wang said on the sidelines of the annual session of China’s Parliament held here that both Xi and Modi had provided strategic guidance to improve the relationship in the meeting held in Kazan.

He said that after this, both sides followed the common understanding between the leaders, strengthened exchange and practical cooperation at all levels and achieved many positive results. After a fierce clash in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, relations between the two countries became tense.

Prime Minister Modi and President Chinfing supported the Indo-China agreement on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh on 23 October last year and issued instructions to restore various bilateral dialogues.

National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Wang Yi held a ‘meaningful discussion’ on December 18 during the Special Representative Dialogue (SR Dialogue). In order to improve relations, India reiterated China’s stance on the importance of maintaining peace on the border, that the differences on border or other issues should not affect the overall bilateral relations.

According to Wang, China believes that the two countries should become partners in each other’s success. He said that cooperative partnership between the two countries is the only right option for both sides. Wang said that both countries should work together with each other.

He said that we should never let bilateral relations be defined by boundary questions or specific differences, affecting the overall picture of our bilateral relations. He said in a clear context of America that as important members of ‘Global South’, we have the responsibility of playing a leading role in opposing authorities.

‘Global South’ refers to countries often called developing, less developed or underdeveloped and which are mainly located in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Wang said that we should not only protect the valid rights and interests of our countries, but also maintain the basic norms that control international relations.

He said that if China and India shake hands, then there will be a lot of improvement in the possibility of more democratic system and strong ‘global South’ in international affairs. Wang said that in 2025, there will be a 75th anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations. He said that China is ready to work closely with India so that China-India relations can be faster on the path of strong and stable development.
