Airtel-Starlink Deal: Despite Starlink Deal, Airtel continues demand for equal prices in satellite service

Airtel has recently signed a new agreement, under which it is going to bring a high -speed internet service of Starlink in India in association with Allen Musk’s company SpaceX. The purpose of Airtel is to deliver better internet connectivity in far-flung areas.

Airtel will now use Starlink’s low-end satellite connectivity. Along with this, the company will also strengthen its already ongoing OneWeb partnership. This will also provide internet facility in those parts of the country where broadband service is not available. However, this agreement will be fulfilled only when SpaceX gets necessary approval from the Indian Authority.

Airtel maintained on demand for fair price

With this new agreement with Starlink, Airtel is also maintained on its demand that there should be a reasonable and equal price for satellite services. The company wants that the consumer should be best benefited between telecom and foreign satellite providers, which gives the best benefit to the consumer.

Earlier Airtel and Reliance Jio opposed foreign satellite provider such as Starlink and Amazon’s project Kayer’s entry into India. The two companies had urged the government to implement legal conditions like traditional telecom companies on satellite operators as well. But now with the changing times, telecom giants have approved the cycle with SpaceX.

Now not a fight, but time to cooperate: Sunil Mittal

Talking about the changing times, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal said that “is no longer time to fight, but time to cooperate.” With this change, telecom companies have shown the stance to adopt the partnership.

New telecom law benefits providers like Starlinks

Under the new telecom law in India, the allocation of satellite spectrum will be done on the basis of fee, which is different from the earlier auction model. Providers like Starlinks can benefit from this change, but TRAI is still engaged in deciding the final rules. Airtel believes that with the new rule, all companies will get an opportunity to equal and internet service will be reached across the country.

It is expected from this agreement that internet acce and quality will improve in India. This step of Airtel will give a new direction to Digital India and connectivity will be better in remote areas.
