Akshay Kumar has not been special for the past few years as he got to see one flop film after another at the box office, including the name of films like Sarfira from the multistarrer game. But do you know that Akshay Kumar did not charge fees for a 2023 film. While he had said that if the film earns well, he will take his fees. But this could not happen because this film of Akshay Kumar not only flopped but the makers also lost crores. We are talking about Akshay Kumar’s film Selfie with Emraan Hashmi in 2023.
Selfie was a comedy drama film directed by Raj Mehta. While Dharma Production, Magic Frames, Prithviraj Production and Cape of Good were produced. The film was a remake of the 2019 Malayalam film driving license, based on enmity between an RTO inspector and an actor. The film was released in theaters on 24 February 2023. But in the budget of 100 crores, only 23.63 crores were able to film worldwide.
Prithviraj Sukumaran recently said in a conversation with Pinkvilla, “I produced a film with Akshay Kumar sir. He did not take a single rupee. He just said that if the film earns money, then only he will take his wages. And if the film did not work, then he did not take any money.
It is worth noting that Prithviraj Sukumaran has appeared as an actor in Nam Shabana (2017) and Bade Mian Chhoti Mian (2024).
