Explaining this, Chris Dunn, owner of a private security company, said that the demand for such services has increased in view of the crisis. A reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle recently witnessed private firefighters pouring water on the roof of a house overnight to stop the flames. “Private fire department protects this Hollywood Hills home from SunsetFire. They have sprinklers installed to drop water from the second floor ceiling and will be on guard all night.”

One company founder told The LA Times that if private fire departments are able to protect a home, it benefits both parties, because homeowners keep their properties and insurance companies get the money to rebuild.
