New Delhi:
Ajay Sahay, DG and CEO of the Federation of Indian Export Organization, told NewsDeskReport on Trump’s “mutual tariff”: It is not clear yet that the US will put “Reciprocal Tariff” on how much and any product. During the Trump-Modi meeting, bilateral trade between India and the US has agreed to increase to $ 500 billion. A multi-product bilateral trade agrement between two countries is also agreed.
Most of the goods from India, which is America, does not have much manufacturing in America. There is no threat to America’s manufacturing companies from Indian exports. It may be that we have to reduce import duties on some American products. We have to negotiate with the US, they have to give some market access.
If America starts Teriff for against the big countries of the world, then we estimate that it will benefit the Indian exporter. We have identified 175 tariffs lines in which America, India and China directly compete with each other. A part of these $ 238 billion tariff line can be shifted to India from China.
Our assessment is that if the US tariff war starts, then it can open a new export market of $ 25 to 30 billion for Indian exporters.
