Washington:
Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with his US counterpart Marco Rubio after the meeting of Quad foreign ministers on Tuesday. Jaishankar also held a meeting with America’s National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. Earlier, Jaishankar attended the first meeting of Quad Foreign Ministers in Washington DC after the swearing-in of Donald Trump. Along with his American counterpart, Japan’s Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong were also present in this meeting.
Jaishankar said in an ex-post that it was a great pleasure to meet Marco Rubio for his first bilateral meeting after taking over as Secretary of State. In which we reviewed our comprehensive bilateral partnership, which Rubio has been a very strong advocate of. Also in his post, Jaishankar said that we exchanged views on many regional and global issues. Look forward to working closely with them to take our strategic cooperation forward.

Earlier, Rubio met Quad foreign ministers on the first day of his tenure and began his work as US Secretary of State. Before the meeting, the foreign ministers of the Quad posed for photographs with Rubio in front of the flags of their countries.
