The National Citizen Party (NCP), a student -led National Citizen in Bangladesh, said that it does not want the defeated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party to participate in the Bangladesh Awami League election. NCP convenor Nahid Islam said in an interview published late Tuesday night in the US’s International Executive Affairs magazine ‘The Diplomat’ for the Asia-Pacific region, “No, we don’t want Awami to participate in the league elections.” He said that people of Awami League are responsible for the wrongdoings, they should be prosecuted first “.
When asked about the NCP’s plan, Islam said, “Our goal is to establish a second republic through a Constituent Assembly, through which we want to implement a new constitution and change the structure of power mobility of the country.”
Students of NCP, which emerged as a political party under the patronage of Professor Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government, led a massive rebellion under the banner of ‘Students Against Description’ (SAD) (SAD) (SAD) or anti-discrimination student movement in July-August last year.
Asked what his party’s attitude on diplomacy is, Islam said, “First and most importantly we want Bangladesh to free from the dominance of any foreign power and adopt a balanced and beneficial diplomatic approach.”
He said, “In the past we saw that the governance systems were very much dependent on the influence of Delhi. However, we will not allow Bangladesh politics to be concentrated around India or Pakistan. The NCP will be completely Bangladesh focused and will keep national interests paramount. ”
