Big action in Nagpur violence: YouTuber arrested for treason, 190 inflammatory posts were removed

The police has intensified its action in the case of violence that erupted in Nagpur on 17 March. According to the latest update, Nagpur police has so far arrested 104 people and 13 FIRs have been registered in this regard. The layers of conspiracy are opening behind this violence, in which the name of Minority Democratic Party leader Faheem Khan and Executive Chairman Hamid Engineer have come out prominently. The assets of both have been sealed.

Meanwhile, Nagpur Cyber ​​Police has taken major action by showing strictness on the role of social media in inciting violence. Cyber ​​cell has registered four FIRs, one of which has been arrested for local YouTuber Mohammad Shahbaz. Shahbaz has been seriously accused of treason (Section 124 of IPC). According to sources, Shahbaz had done live streaming during violence on his YouTube channel, which the cyber cell has considered a major reason for violence. Through this live video, he is accused of spreading rumors and increasing stress.

190 inflammatory posts removed
Nagpur Cyber ​​Cell has so far removed 190 inflammatory posts in this case and has identified 18 social media accounts that shared objectionable material before and after violence. Some of these accounts are from Nagpur, while some are being told outside the city. Cyber ​​police say the rumors spread on social media further promoted violence, including incidents of attacking police and damage to property.

There was a dispute about Aurangzeb
Nagpur violence started with a demonstration about Aurangzeb’s tomb, which later turned into tension between two communities. During this time, incidents of stone pelting, arson in vehicles and damage to property came to light on the police. The police is still identifying the accused based on CCTV footage and social media data. A joint investigation by cyber cell and Nagpur police has also revealed Bangladeshi connection, whose wires are said to be related to the violence provoking posts. The police imposed curfew to control the situation.
