New Delhi:
The budget session of Parliament will begin on 31 January i.e. in the joint session today with the address of President Draupadi Murmu, then the next day the general budget will be presented on Saturday 1 February. Discussions on the President’s address in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will start from Monday.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present an economic review of 2024-25 on Friday itself. With the assessment of the performance of the economy in the current financial year, it describes the challenges faced by the country. The Economic Reviews presented in Parliament before the Union Budget also provide a blueprint for reforms and development.
Review describes development outline
The team led by Chief Economic Advisor V Anant Nageswaran has prepared the review. It describes the outline of development in the economy and various sectors, besides providing an approach for the next financial year. The review is expected to provide detailed assessment about the slow growth in the review, the decline in the exchange rate of the rupee against the US dollar and the low demand for consumption.
In the review regarding poverty eradication, climate change, education, development of infrastructure and financial sector, new and leaks are often given in reviews. The Finance Minister will present the second budget of the third term of the Narendra Modi government on Saturday. The first part of the session will end on 13 February and the second part will begin on March 10 and the session will end on April 4.
In the first phase of the session, the proposal on the President’s address is debated in both the houses and it ends with the Prime Minister’s reply in both the houses of Parliament.
Budget session is also likely to be ruckus!
The government has listed three other new draft laws along with the Waqf (Amendment) Bill to discuss and pass in the budget session. The government has sought the cooperation of the opposition in running the House in a smooth form. However, like the winter session, the budget session is likely to be uproar. The opposition will try to make a stampede on Wednesday in the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj as BJP’s failure in this session.
Electoral states may be focused in the budget!
Assembly elections are to be held in states like Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pundicherry next year in 2025. Of these, BJP has an absolute majority government in Assam and there is a NDA government in the Bihar government. There is a big preparation of the BJP for the Bengal and Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the effect of which can also be seen in this budget. There is a preparation to give big gifts to the electoral states through the budget. It is being believed that some big announcement may be made for Bihar once again.
Preparations to pass many important bills
In the budget session, the government is preparing to pass several important bills. The government has prepared a list of 16 bills. In which the Waqf Amendment Bill is mainly included. At the same time, apart from immigration and foregors bills, many important bills related to financial matters will also be brought.
