Competition to get tokens, devotees falling on each other… Stampede in Tirupati a conspiracy or accident?


In Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati Balaji temple (Tirupati stampede), when devotees were standing in queues to collect tokens, suddenly a stampede occurred. People started falling on each other.

  1. After the stampede accident in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will visit Tirupati at 10:30 am on Thursday. He will go to the hospital and meet the injured and later discuss the incident with the officials.
  2. On Wednesday, a stampede broke out during the distribution of tokens for Vaikuntha Dwar Darshan at Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Six devotees died and many were injured in this accident. Vaikuntha Dwara Sarvadarshanam is a special darshan lasting 10 days, which is going to start from Friday.
  3. Suddenly a huge crowd of devotees gathered to collect the token, due to which a stampede occurred. In this accident, 16 people including Salem, resident of Tamil Nadu, were badly injured. Salem’s name is also included among the dead. All the injured were taken to Ruia Hospital for treatment.
  4. In the pictures surfaced, heavy police force can be seen in the area. Many people are seen being taken in ambulances. According to eyewitnesses, around 60 people fell on each other while taking tokens at the counter. A stampede broke out due to the huge crowd. Some devotees have alleged negligence on the part of the police.
  5. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board Chairman BR Naidu has denied any conspiracy behind this incident. He said it was an accident. He said, “I suspected that something might be wrong and I warned the authorities not to take it lightly. Rumors spread that not everyone would be allowed to enter Tirumala.”
  6. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the incident in Tirupati. He expressed condolences to the devotees who lost their lives. He said that this incident shook him. This tragic incident happened when a large number of devotees had gathered to collect the tokens.
  7. CM Chandrababu Naidu said that in view of the information that the condition of some of the injured is serious, he has directed senior officials to go to the spot and take relief measures, so that the injured can get better treatment and their lives can be saved. He is constantly talking to officials and taking stock of the situation.
  8. Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy also expressed grief over those who lost their lives in the stampede. Expressing his condolences to the families of the deceased, he appealed to the government to ensure good treatment and care for the injured.
  9. Since morning, thousands of devotees were standing in lines at different ticket centers in Tirupati temple for Vaikuntha Dwar Darshan token. The devotees were given permission to queue up at Bairagi Pattida Park, after which a stampede broke out. After this accident, Tirupati police immediately controlled the situation and evacuated the devotees safely.
  10. Vaikuntha Dwar Darshan has been opened in Turupathi for 10 days. Because of this, thousands of people started gathering to collect the tokens. Temple Committee Chairman BR Naidu called an emergency meeting to take stock of the incident and promised to inform the media about the situation.
