Out of the 7 assembly elections held in Delhi so far, this seat has won the Bharatiya Janata Party, 3 times Congress and Aam Aadmi Party 3 times. Candidates who won 6 out of 7 elections have also become the CM of Delhi. In the first election of 1993, Kunwar Sen of Bharatiya Janata Party was successful in winning the election. However, Congress candidate Sheila Dixit was successful in winning the election in the 1998,2003 and 2008 elections. In the election held after the Anna movement in 2013, Arvind Kejriwal defeated Sheila Dixit and established his reign on the Delhi seat. He is winning from the last 3 elections.
