Constant progress is being made in the construction of the priority corridor of Phase 4 of Delhi Metro. Overall, more than 70% of the civil work in the three corridors has already been completed. Of these, about 4.6 km long between Majlis Park and Jagatpur village is now almost complete.
In the end of December last year, initial trial runs were started on this section. This section includes three additional stations – Burari, Jhoroda Majra and Jagatpur villages, which will be opened after obtaining all compulsory statutory approvals and certificates.
In the last two months, DMRC has completed construction of three important tunnels on the Aerocity-Tugalkabad corridor. The details are as follows:
1. Chhatarpur Temple – IGNOU – 1,475 m (25.02.2025)
2. Kishangarh – Vasant Kunj – 1,550 m (06.03.2025)
3. Chhatarpur Temple – IGNOU – 1,460 meters (18.03.2025)
The first section of Charan 4 from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension was opened on 5 January 2025 for passenger services. The foundation stone of the much awaited Rithala – Kundali Metro Corridor of Charan 4 was also laid on the same day. Overall, the DMRC is constructing about 112 km of new metro lines in the national capital as part of its phase 4 expansion.
