The US President Donald Trump on Thursday imposed ban on the International Crime Court for the “baseless” investigation targeting the US and its close aide Israel, in an executive order. Trump’s order stated that the Hague’s court had “misused his power” by issuing arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu spoke to the US President on Tuesday.
The order stated that the tribunal was engaged in “illegal and baseless actions targeting the US and our close associate Israel”, referring to the ICC investigation of alleged war crimes by the US personnel in Afghanistan and the Israeli soldiers in Gaza.
What is in Trump’s executive order?
The US President ordered the confiscation of property against ICC officers, employees and their family members who help in the court investigation and impose a ban ban.
The ban is a demonstration of support after Netanyahu’s White House visit, during which Trump revealed a plan to “capture” Gaza for the US and transfer Palestinians to other Middle Eastern countries.
Netanyahu’s arrest warrant continued
None of the US and Israel is a member of this court. There has been no response from the ICC regarding restrictions.
The ICC issued an arrest warrant on 21 November for Netanyahu, his former Defense Minister Yov Galant and Hamas military head Mohammad Def. Regarding Def, Israel says that he is dead.
