Effect of defeat from Australia, BCCI preparing to make new entry in Gautam Gambhir’s team – report

There is an earthquake in Indian cricket after Team India lost 1-3 in the Test series on Australia tour. The board is also worried after the flop of Indian batsmen. Now there is news that BCCI is exploring the possibility of including a new member in the coaching staff, especially the batting coach. After India’s defeat, during the discussion between BCCI and the team management, there was a discussion on the need to strengthen the support staff.

According to the report of Cricbuzz, BCCI is exploring the possibility of including a new member in the team’s coaching staff, especially the batting coach. However, no official announcement has been made yet. Some names are being considered, including former domestic cricket legends. Currently, apart from head coach Gautam Gambhir, India’s coaching staff includes Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nair (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach).

Questions are being raised about India’s tour to Australia and the recent flops of Indian batsmen in Test cricket. Virat Kohli was out while playing the same type of short during the Australia tour. Apart from this, questions were also raised due to the flop of captain Rohit Sharma. Before the Australia tour, the Indian team played a three-Test series against New Zealand at home, in which India lost. Even after India’s defeat in this series, questions were raised regarding batting.

The role and functioning of the Indian coaching staff was strongly criticized after these defeats. The role of support staff was discussed in the review meeting in Mumbai on 11 January. It is not clear what kind of discussions were held regarding support staff, however, it has been suggested to work with another expert.

The batting of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is under question. The average of these giants has also fallen. Due to such reasons, it is felt that there is a need to include new people in the coaching staff. However, it is not clear whether the BCCI will go ahead with the appointment or not, but strong suggestions have been made about strengthening the batting coaching department.
