The new ‘jatha’ is sitting on a fast unto death on the border of Haryana. Dallewal has been sitting on a hunger strike since November 26 last year at the Khanauri border on the Punjab side. Haryana Police has increased security on its part of the border. It has already invoked Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defense Code, under which the gathering of five or more people is banned. The protesting farmers have expressed concern over Dallewal’s ‘deteriorating’ health. He says that due to prolonged fasting, ‘many of his organs may stop working’.

Farmers adamant on other demands including guarantee on MSP

Dallewal, convener of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), is on an indefinite hunger strike at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana since November 26 last year. Farmers under the banner of SKM (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 last year after the security forces stopped them from demanding various demands, including legal guarantee of MSP for their crops.
