The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday approved the appointment of Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). Pandey will take over for a three -year early tenure. He replaced the current SEBI president Madhabi Puri Buch, whose term ends on 1 March.
The government order issued by the Center said, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Tuhin Kanta Pandey, IAS (OR: 1987), Finance Secretary and Secretary, Revenue Department of Revenue Department to the post of President of India and Exchange Board (SEBI).
According to a release issued by the Ministry of Personnel Public Grievance and Pension on Thursday, the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has appointed Pandey, IAS officer of Odisha cadre of 1987 batch, as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
His appointment has been made for three years or further order, whichever is earlier, in the beginning of taking charge.
