Amid India’s Got latent controversy, the Center has issued a notice to OTT platforms. In this notice, these platforms have been instructed to follow the code of conduct. IT rules (2021) have been warned to follow the code of conduct and ensure critical self -regulations and implement access control to prevent children from preventing ‘A’ rated content consumer.
Notice issued to OTT platforms
This notice from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting came amidst the controversial episode of the stand-up comedy show ‘India’s Got Letant’, in which Ranveer Allahabadia made a porn ‘comment. After the government’s order, that episode of the show was removed from YouTube.
“Content circulate according to the law”
The government stressed that according to the law, the OTT platform should not circulate any content that is forbidden. Content should be classified on the basis of age. The notice stated that according to the rule, the Self Regulatory Bodies of the OTT platform should ensure monitoring of the code of ethics.
“Take care of Code of Ethics”
The notice said that in view of all this, it is advisable that various provisions of laws applied while circulating the content on OTT platforms and the code of conduct fixed under IT Rules, 2021 should be followed. Strict adherence to the age -based classification of content fixed under Code of Ethics.
