Pakistani court has given him this punishment in the Al-Qadir University Trust corruption case. His wife Bushra Bibi has also been sentenced to 7 years. Imran Khan and his wife fined
A Pakistani court on Friday found former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi guilty of corruption in the Al-Qadir Trust case. In this case, the judge of the court Nasir Javed Rana gave the verdict, the court had been postponed thrice due to different reasons. A fine of Pakistani rupee 1 million has also been imposed on Imran Khan and a fine of Pakistani rupee 500,000 has been imposed on his wife Bushra Bibi. In this case, NAB had registered a case against Khan (72), Bibi (50) and six others in December 2023.
In which case was the punishment given?
According to The Dawn report, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi helped in the transfer of billions of rupees and hundreds of kanals of land from Bahria Town Limited. In return, Rs 50 billion returned by the United Kingdom to Pakistan during Khan’s tenure was laundered. It is also alleged that funds meant for the national treasury were allegedly diverted for personal gain, including the establishment of Al-Qadir University. Bushra Bibi, as trustee of the Al-Qadir Trust, is also accused of directly benefiting from the agreement. The case also alleges that Khan played a key role in the “illegal transfer of funds meant for the state” to an account used to pay for land in Bahria Town in Karachi.
