According to sources, BJP’s central observer Prahlad Joshi will probably officially announce his appointment on Monday. On Sunday, Chandrashekhar filed two sets of nomination papers for this post at the state headquarters of BJP in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital.
State President K Surendran and senior BJP leaders Kummanam Rajasekharan, V Muralitharan, PK Krishnadas, MT Ramesh as well as Union Ministers Suresh Gopi and George Kurien were present on the occasion.

He has served as Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Water Power Departments. He has served as a Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka and BJP’s national spokesperson three times. He is the vice president of the Kerala unit of NDA.
Shashi fought elections against Tharoor, lost by 16 thousand votes
Chandrashekhar, a popular face in Kerala, contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Thiruvananthapuram as the NDA candidate but lost to Shashi Tharoor of Congress by a margin of 16077 votes. Born in a family of Kerala origin in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Chandrashekhar has a family relationship with Thrissur.
