Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile production unit in Lucknow on Sunday. Many leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were present on the occasion. During this, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said, “You must have seen a glimpse of the BrahMos missile during ‘Operation Sindoor’. If not seen, ask the people of Pakistan about the strength of BrahMos missile. PM Narendra Modi has announced that any action of terrorism will be considered war from further. The problem of terrorism cannot be solved until we crush it completely, we do not crush it completely. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, terrorism has to be adopted in the language of love.
Actually, the new BrahMos missile production facility has started in Lucknow, which will strengthen India’s indigenous defense capacity. This unit will create 80 to 100 BrahMos missiles per year. BrahMos missile will be built in this unit at a cost of Rs 300 crore, which can make an accurate attack at a range of 290-400 km and 2.8 MAC. The missile has been developed by India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPO Machrostroyenia’s joint venture, BrahMos Aerospace. It can be launched by land, sea or air and it works on the “Fire and Forge” system.
Apart from this, the unit will also make 100 to 150 next generation BrahMos missiles every year. According to officials, these new versions will be ready for delivery within a year. In addition, the weight of the next generation missile has been reduced from 2,900 kg to 1,290 kg and its range will be more than 300 km. With this, fighter aircraft like Sukhoi, who now carry a missile, will be able to carry three missiles.
This unit is an important part of the Defense Industrial Corridor announced by PM Narendra Modi in 2018. Its foundation stone was laid in 2021 and the Uttar Pradesh government provided 80 hectares of land for this. This unit is ready in just three and a half years. Explain that the Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor includes six nodes, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi and Chitrakoot. Its goal is to attract large investment in defense production.
Uttar Pradesh is the second state after Tamil Nadu, which has established a dedicated defense corridor, which further strengthens its role in national security and defense production.
