The central government has taken many big decisions in the interest of farmers. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government has decided to expand the crop insurance scheme, which will benefit 4 crore farmers. Along with this, the government has also reduced the prices of DAP fertilizer.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told reporters after the CCEA meeting that a one-time special package for di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer has been approved for the period January-December, 2025.
Extension of crop insurance scheme
The government has decided to expand the scope of the crop insurance scheme to include 4 crore more farmers in it. With this, more farmers will be able to get financial assistance in times of crop loss. The government has decided to provide additional subsidy of Rs 3,850 crore on DAP fertilizer. With this, farmers will continue to get 50 kg DAP bag for Rs 1,350. Despite the increase in the prices of DAP in the international market, the government has taken this decision to provide relief to the farmers.
The government has allocated a total of Rs 69,515 crore for farmers. Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the prices of DAP are continuously increasing in the international market. To ensure that the burden of this increase does not fall on the farmers, the government has decided to provide additional subsidy.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that another major decision has been taken regarding additional subsidy for DAP fertilizers. A one-time special package has been provided by PM Modi. Farmers will get a 50 kg bag of DAP for Rs 1,350. In today’s world, whatever additional burden there is, due to geopolitical tensions and war situations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government will bear it. This special lump sum package is a very important decision and shows the government’s commitment towards farmers. The total cost of this entire package will be approximately Rs 3,850 crore.
