Marco Rubio’s statement came at a time when Israel confirmed the return of three hostages released by Hamas. Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the three hostages-Ohud Ben Ami, Elli Druni and Or Levi-Kar have been handed over to the Red Cross, which has brought them to the Israeli region. IDF and Shin Bet forces welcomed him when he arrived, where his initial medical evaluation was to be done. These people, who were hostage in Gaza, looked clearly weak, their weak situation had created concern among their families.
According to the Times of Israeli report, Hamas organized a public event before his release. In this, the hostages were forced to participate in a promotional demonstration. During the ceremony, a masked Hamas worker gave a speech, while three prisoners were caught and paraded on the stage.
Ohd Ben Ami’s mother, Mishal Cohen expressed her pain by seeing her son weak and older than her age. Or Levi’s brother, Taal Levi also focused on his brother’s weak position, but emphasized the importance of continuous efforts to bring all the hostages back home. The hostage and missing family forum, further strengthening the call, described the distressed photographs of the prisoners released by the unquestioned proof of how important it is to ensure the freedom of the people who are still in captivity.
Under this agreement, Israel has prepared to release 183 Palestinian security prisoners from the Kejot Jail in Negev and Offer Jail at West Bank. The group consists of 18 prisoners serving life sentence, of which seven are to be deported. Out of 183 prisoners, 111 were arrested in Gaza during the ongoing war, while the remaining 72 are from West Bank and East Jerusalem.
