Ansari had allegedly commented on the belief that bathing at the confluence gives people freedom from sins, and said that if every sinner takes a holy dip in Mahakumbh, heaven will become houseful.

Ansari said, “It is believed that taking a holy bath in the confluence during the Mahakumbh wash the sins of the people. Looking at the huge crowd, it seems that no one will survive in hell and heaven will become houseful.” In addition, he accused the government of failing to tell the exact number of deaths from the recent stampede in Mahakumbh. According to official data, 30 people were killed and 60 others were injured in a stampede before dawn in the confluence area of ​​Mahakumbh last month.

In this regard, SP Ghazipur has confirmed the FIR that an FIR has been lodged in Shadiabad police station on the complaint of hurting religious sentiments on 12 February.

The complaint against Ansari was lodged by former District Cooperative Bank President Dev Prakash Singh. This is not the first time Ansari has come into controversy over comments related to religious practices. Earlier, he had commented on the intake of cannabis at the Kumbh Mela. He further commented that a large amount of cannabis is consumed during religious events, especially during the Kumbh Mela. He claimed that even if the entire goods train filled with cannabis is sent in Kumbh, it will not be enough. These comments were thoroughly criticized by Hindu organizations. After that incident, Ansari apologized unconditionally and said that his comment was to highlight concerns over drug smuggling, not to accuse any religion.
