Hindi imperative in Maharashtra ends, ban on decision to teach Hindi till 5th


The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday has taken several important decisions related to various departments.

The Maharashtra Government (Maharashtra Government) has taken a big decision on the Hindi language in schools on Tuesday. The Government of Maharashtra has eliminated the imperative of Hindi in schools of the state. Along with this, the government has banned the decision to teach Hindi from first grade to fifth. Along with this, the Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday has taken several important decisions with the aim of promoting development, infrastructure and administrative reform measures in various departments.

School Education Minister Dada Bhusus in the Maharashtra government said that the Maharashtra government has banned its order to make Hindi compulsory as the third language for students from first to fifth grade.

He said that Hindi was made mandatory as a third language from class 1 to class 5, on which the state government has made an important decision and banned it.

Language counseling committee protested

Earlier, Laxmikant Deshmukh, chairman of the language counseling committee appointed by the Government of Maharashtra, opposed the state government’s decision to make Hindi mandatory. Also, writing a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the committee urged the government to cancel this order.

The Maharashtra government’s decision to make Hindi mandatory was a part of the National Education Policy 2020, under which it was announced to make Hindi compulsory third language from class 1 to 5 on 17 April 2025.
