"I usually …" Virat Kohli’s ‘Dard’, told why did not run the bat in the initial season

Virat Kohli on his Relation with Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Great batsman Virat Kohli said that his basic principle is to bat according to the circumstances of the match while controlling the ego. One of the most successful batsmen of the current era, Kohli recently achieved another achievement. He became the first Indian player to score 13000 runs in T20 format.

Kohli said to ‘Jio Hotstar’, “This (batting) is never about ego. It is never an attempt to beat anyone. For me it has always been about understanding the situation of the game. This is something that I am always proud of. I want to play according to the circumstances.” He said, “If I am in the rhythm, I would naturally take the initiative to take responsibility. If someone is playing better then he does it.”

Kohli is the highest century and run -up players in the IPL. He has scored 8168 runs in 256 matches with eight centuries. This 36 -year -old player said that he understood the needs of this format since the 2011 session. He said, “I did not get opportunities to bat in the top order in my first three years with Royal Challengers Bangalore. I was usually sent in the lower order. In such a situation, I could not succeed on a large scale in the IPL during that time.”

Kohli said, “I started performing well since 2010 and started batting regularly in third order from 2011. Since then I have done well with continuity.”

Kohli admitted that spending 18 years in the league helped him to improve his skills in the shortest format of cricket. He said, “The IPL challenges you in a very unique way because the structure of this league is quite different. It is not like a small bilateral series, it lasts for several weeks and your position in the points table changes. Continuous changing landscape brings different types of pressure.”

He said, “The tournament challenges you to pursue mental and competitively which is not in other formats. It has also inspired me to continuously improve and develop my T20 skills.”
