Indian off-spinner Deepti Sharma has moved up one place to fifth position in the International Cricket Council (ICC) women’s ODI bowling rankings due to her stellar performance in the recently concluded home series against the West Indies. Deepti, who made it to the top five, now has 665 rating points and is 12 points behind Marizanne Kapp of South Africa, who is in fourth place.
Twenty-seven year old Deepti had taken eight wickets in two matches against West Indies, which also included six wickets for 31 runs in the last match. India had clean swept this ODI series by winning 3-0 in Vadodara.
In the list of batsmen, Jemimah Rodrigues is close to making it to the top 20 with 537 points. After playing innings of 29 and 52 runs in the series, he is at 22nd position with the gain of four places.
Aggressive batsman Richa Ghosh has also gained seven places at 41st position. He has 448 rating points. West Indies’ Chenelle Henry has jumped 21 places to 65th position after scoring a half-century in the third ODI.
India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana (720 points), who scored two half-centuries in the series, however, slipped by one place to third position.
South Africa’s Laura Wolwart (773) and Sri Lanka’s Chamri Atapattu (733) are ahead of them. Let us tell you, Mandhana is the only Indian in the top-10 ODI ranking of women batsmen.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is at 13th position with a loss of three places. Hayley Mathews, who scored the seventh ODI century of her career in Vadodara, has moved up six places to seventh place in the batting rankings.
