Pakistan, who shelters terrorists, means any kind of financial assistance to support terrorism. When India was competing with Pakistan, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) helped him. The IMF recently approved the bailout package of $ 1 billion (more than Rs 8,000 crore) to Pakistan, while India objected. Now amidst India’s objections, IMF has given clarification. He has said that Pakistan, who is in debt, has “met all the necessary goals” to take a new installment of the loan.
India had asked the IMF to reconsider the bailout (loan given to Pakistan). India had argued that Pakistan allows terrorists to use their land to start state -sponsored attacks against Indian citizens.
It is worth noting that this Ijesan, which is loan at the global level, has given $ 2.1 billion to Pakistan in two installments under its extended fund facility (EFF) program. IMF and Pakistan signed a $ 7 billion agreement under EFF last year.
Defending the loan to Pakistan, Julie Kojac, director of the IMF Department of Communications, said on Thursday, “Our board found that Pakistan has really fulfilled all the goals. It has progressed on some reforms, and for that reason, the board proceeded and approved the program.”
Kosec also made a brief statement regarding the conflict between India and Pakistan and hoped for a peaceful solution between the two countries. He said, “Regarding the struggle with Pakistan and India, I want to start by expressing the loss and sympathy of the loss of life and property in the first struggle here. We expect a peaceful solution to the struggle.”
He said that the IMF Executive Board had approved Pakistan’s EFF program in September 2024. And at that time, the first review was planned in the first quarter of 2025.
“According to that timeline, on 25 March 2025, IMF employees and Pakistani officials arrived at an employee-level agreement on the first review for EFF. That agreement was then submitted to our Executive Board, and our Executive Board completed the review. Pakistan received money after the completion of that review on 9 May.”
