The Miss Universe competition has been held since the year 1952 and so far India’s three Sundaria (Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutt and Harnaz Sandhu) have named this title to the country, while India is participating in it from its inception. Indrani Rahman was the first Indian woman to participate in Miss Universe. Indrani is the second Miss India (1952) of India. In the Miss Universe competition 1952, Indrani could not bring the title for the country, but she had illuminated the name of India overnight with this competition. In the first Miss Universe Pratiyaogita in California, USA, Indrani caught the world’s attention with her desi look in the swimsuit round.

Indrani was just 22 years old in Miss Universe competition 1952. Indrani was seen in full confidence and swag on the ramp walk here. When Indrani was seen with gajra in his hair on a swimsuit dress in the swimsuit round and a dot on the forehead, the viewers were shocked and impressed. This look of Indrani was also discussed in the country. Indrani was from Tamil Nadu, who was also a magnificent classical dancer. Indrani knew Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali and Odissi dances.

Indrani Rahman gets these awards

In 1969, Indrani Rahman was awarded the Padma Shri Award and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 1981. Apart from this, Indrani has also been awarded the Taraknath Das Award. Significantly, Indrani got married at the age of 15 and ran away from 30 Habib Rahman. Habib Rahman was a well-known architect. Indrani had two children from this marriage. Indrani was born on 19 September 1930 in Chennai and he died in New York on 5 February 1999 at the age of 68.
