In the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Indian cinema once again recorded its brilliant presence in the Cannes Film Festival 2025. This time veteran actress Sharmila Tagore won everyone’s heart at the age of 80 with her simplicity and royal style on the red carpet. She was accompanied by actress Simi Grewal, who made her ear at the age of 77. Both of them had reached France’s ears for the premiere of the Restord version of Aranyer Din Ratri, the classic film of Satyajit Ray. The screening of this film was appreciated by the audience with a standing ovation. Sharmila Tagore made her debut in films in 1959 and after 66 years she made her ear.

Aranyer was released in the day 1970 and directed by Satyajit Ray. The film is based on the novel by writer Sunil Gangopadhyay, which is known as Days and Nights in the Forest in English. In this Bengali film, Sharmila Tagore played Aparna and Simi Grewal played Duli. The film was shown in Cannes’s classics section.

Sharmila Tagore stepped on a red carpet in a luxurious green silk saree. He was accompanied by his daughter Saba Pataudi. Simi Grewal appeared in her signature white colored gown. While sharing the pictures on her Instagram, Saba wrote, ‘Kan 2025, mother and I… a memorable moment.’
