Income Tax Department raided the house of a former MLA in Madhya Pradesh. During this time, apart from gold, crores of rupees in cash and anonymous imported cars, such things were found from the house of former BJP MLA Harvansh Singh Rathore, which the Income Tax Department team was surprised to see. There was a pond inside the former MLA’s house, in which he had also kept three crocodiles.
The Income Tax Department raided the house of Harvansh Singh Rathod and former councilor Rajesh Kesharwani in Sagar from Sunday on charges of tax evasion worth crores.
Officials said that the raid has revealed tax evasion of Rs 155 crore. Apart from gold and silver jewellery, they have also seized Rs 3 crore in cash. The price of jewelery will also run into crores.
Sources said that Kesharwani, who did beedi business with Harvansh Singh Rathore, alone evaded tax worth Rs 140 crore. Documents related to this have been found during the raid. He was also in the construction business.
Three crocodiles were also found in a small pond of Harvansh Singh Rathore’s house, after which the Income Tax Department informed the Forest Department.
At Kesharwani’s house, officials also found several anonymous imported cars, which were not registered under any member of the Kesharwani family. The Income Tax Department has sought information regarding the cars from the Transport Department and is investigating how they got these cars.
Sagar district businessman and BJP leader Harvansh Singh Rathod was elected MLA in the 2013 assembly elections and was also a strong contender for the post of district chief. His father Harnam Singh Rathore was a minister in the Madhya Pradesh government.
