
Rohit Sharma on Ind vs Eng Test Series: Indian captain Rohit Sharma hoped to have a fully fit team before the five -match Test series against England. Speaking on the Beyond 23 Cricket Podcast, Rohit highlighted the importance of managing the fitness of the players during the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit said, “We need to be 100 percent fit for some of these players. We just have to ensure that they actually perform well from the IPL. It’s most challenging – I know it is only four overs, but you play today, you travel tomorrow, and then you play again. It’s the toughest part, because you are traveling all over the country, because you are traveling and so many games.”
Referring to the importance of Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammed Shami being hurt-free, he said that the fully fit team will give India a great chance of success in the series. Rohit said, “I hope these two players will complete the IPL with other players without any concern. If we have a fully fit team going to England, we will play a great series there.”
Rohit accepted the intensive level of international cricket and the challenges faced with it. He said, “The kind of cricket these players are playing these days. This will be a good challenge for us.” India last won 1-0 series in England in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. Since then, his last Test series in England ended 2–2 in 2022, when India played the fifth Test renovated in Edgbaston under Jasprit Bumrah’s captaincy, initially after 2–1 in the series under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
India’s five -Test tour of England will begin on June 20 with the first Test in Leeds. Rohit has been India’s highest run -scorer in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC), who has scored 2,716 runs in 40 Tests at an average of 41.15 with nine centuries and eight fifties.
