India vs England ODI Series, Jasprit Bumrah: The Indian team is currently on Australian tour, where it has to play the fifth and last match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against the host country in Sydney. The Indian team is currently behind 2-1 in the series. To maintain its chances of reaching the final of the World Test Championship, the Indian team will have to win this test at any cost. After this test, the Indian team has to play a white ball series against England at home.
During this period, a series of five T20 and three ODI matches will be played between India and England. After this, Champions Trophy is to be organized in February, so this series is going to be very important. Now there is news that Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the ODI series against England, while there is a claim regarding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma that the decision on them will be taken after their availability.
Senior players can be given rest
According to India Today report, the senior selection committee of the men’s cricket team has decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming T20 and ODI series against England at home. Bumrah may be given rest due to workload management. Apart from this, there is a claim for Rohit and Virat that they may miss this series.
India will host England in a five-match T20 series and a three-match ODI series from January 22 to February 12. The ODI series is ending just seven days before the start of the Champions Trophy.
According to the report, during the meeting, after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, a decision will be taken regarding their inclusion in the team. However, both the players are keen to play three ODIs to gain momentum before the Champions Trophy.
Keeping the Champions Trophy in mind, there is a high possibility that Virat and Rohit will make themselves available for the three-match ODI series against England.
Bumrah is showing his magic
Jasprit Bumrah, who is leading India’s fast bowling in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series in Australia, has performed brilliantly. In the absence of fast bowler Mohammed Shami, the responsibility of an inexperienced fast bowling order has been entrusted.
India lost by 184 runs in Melbourne and in this match, Bumrah bowled 53.2 overs – the most in a single Test in his career. Bumrah took 9 wickets in the Melbourne Test. In four Test matches, he has bowled 141.2 overs, the highest workload for any bowler from any side in the series so far. By the end of the Sydney Test, Bumrah will have played 10 Tests in four months.
Increasing pressure on Rohit-Virat
Rohit and Virat are currently in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where the batting pair has failed to score runs. In such a situation, there is a lot of pressure on Virat and Rohit. Virat has definitely scored a century in this series. On the other hand, Rohit has flopped miserably.
The schedule of Champions Trophy is like this
Champions Trophy 2025 is to start from 19th February. The mega tournament will be held in hybrid model, in which all India will play their matches in Dubai. If India qualifies for the final then the final will also be held in Dubai. India will face Bangladesh on 20th February and the high-voltage match against Pakistan will be held on 23rd February.
ICC has divided the teams into two groups. Group A of the tournament includes India, New Zealand and Bangladesh along with current Champions Trophy winners and hosts Pakistan, while Group B features 2023 ODI World Cup champions Australia along with Afghanistan, England and South Africa.
