KL Rahul Rested from England Series Ahead of Champion’s Trophy 2025: Indian batsman KL Rahul (KL Rahul Rested from IND v WG) can be rested for the white-ball series against England starting from January 22 in Kolkata. The home series includes five T20s and three ODIs, which will begin on February 19. However, Rahul will be available for selection for the Champions Trophy.
India will play all its matches in Dubai, while the remaining matches will be held in the host country Pakistan. “He has asked for a break for the England series, but he will be available for selection for the Champions Trophy (KL Rahul Available for Champion’s Trophy 2025),” a BCCI source told PTI on Thursday. India’s high-profile batting collapsed in the Test series in Australia, but Rahul was one of the few batsmen who scored runs.
He was the third highest run-scorer for India with 276 runs in 10 innings at an average of 30.66. Although Rahul is ahead in the rankings, he is fighting for the wicket-keeper batsman’s spot in the Champions Trophy squad along with Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.
Rahul had also sought rest from Karnataka’s matches in Vijay Hazare Trophy. Their quarter-finals will be played over the weekend. It remains to be seen whether he will be available for Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy campaign as head coach Gautam Gambhir has stressed the need for all Indian cricketers to play domestic cricket after the series loss in Australia.
