India has a strike with Indus Water Treaty on Pakistan, understand how the enemy will suffer

Indus Water Treaty: After the Pahalgam Terror Attack, India has postponed the Indus Water Treaty by taking a big diplomatic step. India has said that it will remain postponed until Pakistan relinquish its support for cross -border terrorism.

Is Indus Water Treaty

India and Pakistan did the Indus Water Treaty in 1960 for the water sharing of rivers. The World Bank was mediated in this treaty. The treaty was signed by Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistan President Ayub Khan on 19 September 1960 in Karachi. The treaty determined how the water of six rivers of the Indus river system would be shared between India and Pakistan. According to this agreement, the control of three Eastern rivers Beas, Ravi and Sutlej was given to India, and three western rivers Indus, Chenab and Jhelum were given control to Pakistan. Pakistan’s control rivers reach India. According to the treaty, India is allowed to use them for irrigation, transport and power generation. This means that 80% of the water went into Pakistan, while the remaining 20% water was released for the use of India. During this time, accurate rules were fixed by India on these rivers for the construction of projects. This treaty was a result of fear of Pakistan that due to the basis of rivers in India, it would not have to face drought and famine etc. in the event of war etc.

Who will resolve the dispute

Pakistan has authority over the water of Jhelum, Chenab and Indus, IWT’s attachment C is allowed some agricultural use, while Annex D allows it to build ‘Run of the River’ hydroelectric projects, which means that water storage is not required. Any side can contact the World Bank for appointment of neutral expert (NE) to take decisions in case of technical differences, such as unresolved questions or “differences” between countries regarding water-sharing.

India has kept patience so far

Since the Indus Water Agreement in 1960, there has been tension in India and Pakistan about the Kashmir issue. All types of disagreements and disputes have been settled through the legal processes provided within the structure of the treaty. According to the provisions of this treaty, only 20% of the total water of Indus River can be used by India. At the time when this treaty took place, there was no war in India with Pakistan. The situation was absolutely normal at that time, but from 1965, Pakistan continued to seek alternatives of violence with India, in which there was a war in both countries in 1965 and Pakistan had to face defeat in this fight. Then in 1971, Pakistan fought a war with India, in which it had to lose a part of its own, which is known as Bangladesh. Since then, Pakistan is using both terrorism and army against India. But India still never stopped the water of these rivers.

How to shock for Pakistan

In Pakistan, Indus, Chenab, Bolna, Hario, Kabul, Jhelum, Ravi, Poonch and Kunhar rivers flow. Apart from this, many major rivers flow here. But the lifeline is the Indus River. The origin of the Indus River is considered to be Sin-Ka-Bab Jaladhara near Mansarovar in Tibet. From here this river flows between Tibet and Kashmir. Walking from the northern part of the naked mountain, this river passes through Pakistan in the south-west. Pakistan gets most of this river. Also, most of the water of this river is used for drinking water to agriculture in homes. Apart from this, there are many important hydropower projects of Pakistan on this river. In such a situation, this river also has the status of the national river of Pakistan.
