India Pakistan War: 24 airports closed due to Indo-Pakistan tension, airlines released travel advisory

New Delhi:
In view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued an advisory that 24 airports across the country have been temporarily closed for civil flight operations till Thursday evening. Tension has increased further after the Pakistani drone and missile attacks on Indian cities in Jammu, Punjab, Gujarat and Rajasthan. In response to the danger of the growing war between India and Pakistan, several Indian airlines have issued a travel advisory, which has been requested to give additional time and cooperate in the increased safety check.

Decision taken under security protocol

The ministry did not clarify the reasons for the period of closure of airports or the reasons behind the move. However, the closure of the airports is part of a comprehensive security protocol, with many affected airports located close to the international border or in strategically important areas.

Expected to affect connectivity in northern and western India

Connectivity in northern and western India is expected to be affected by the closure of civil flights, and passengers have been urged to investigate the airlines before going to the airports. The Nigger Aviation Security Bureau (BCAS) has advised to strengthen safety measures from all airlines and airports in the country.

Increased security checking on airports

All passengers will have to undergo a secondary ladder point check (SLPC) at all airports, which are often known as pre-boarding inspections. Vehicles will be carefully examined at all airport terminals, IDs will be checked before admission and passengers’ goods will be checked. The entry of visitors in terminal buildings has been banned. Accordingly, air marshals will be deployed.

The BCAS said in its order, “In view of the recent attacks in Pahalgam and the increased security situation, all civil aviation installations such as airports, airstrips, airports, airports, air force stations, helipads, flight schools and aviation training institutes are required to increase security measures, so that there is no unpleasant incident in the country.

Air India said to close check-in 75 minutes ago

Air India said, “Due to the order of the Civil Aviation Security Bureau regarding increasing security measures at airports, passengers across the country are encouraged to give extra time for check-in and boarding. The check-in will be closed 75 minutes before the departure.”

Akasa Air has done to arrive at least three hours ago

Akasa Air posted a similar notice on X, stating, “Due to increasing security measures at all airports in the country, passengers are advised to reach at least three hours before their departure. It is to ensure a smooth check-in and boarding process.”

“Passengers will have to accompany the approved valid photo ID by the government for entry into airports. In addition to the checked baggage, only one handbag weighing up to 7 kg will be allowed. All passengers will have to go through security checking before boarding.”

IndiGo also gave this advice to passengers

India’s largest airline IndiGo also issued a statement, “During these extraordinary times, security measures are being extended at all airports. Passengers are advised to give additional time for their travel to complete security checks and formalities. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”

Due to increasing tension with Pakistan, Indian Airlines suspended flight operations at more than two dozen airports in northern and western regions of the country this week.
