What is Bangladesh’s allegation?
Bangladesh alleges that India has violated old agreements on the border. Jahangir Alam has claimed that according to a 1975 agreement, no construction work can be done within 150 yards of the zero line without the consent of both the countries.

According to PTI report, Jahangir Alam said, “Another agreement was signed in 1974, in which Bangladesh handed over Berubari to India. In return, India was to give Bangladesh access to the Three Bigha Corridor. But, India never handed over this corridor. Didn’t open it completely. He used to open it only for an hour or so.”

According to the report, however, in 2010 the two countries again reached an agreement. It was decided that the Teen Bigha corridor will remain open 24 hours. This agreement also gave India permission to fence the border. Now the interim government of Bangladesh is objecting to this.

According to the state-run Bangladesh Sangabad Sangathan (BSS) news agency, the meeting of the Indian High Commissioner with Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin lasted for about 45 minutes. After the meeting, Prannoy Verma told PTI, “There is an agreement between Dhaka and New Delhi regarding fencing of the border for security.
