Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that Bharat P3 (Pro Planet People) strongly advocates the approach and has always been willing to share his experiences and learns with the world in his journey towards ‘Circular Economy’. PM Modi shared a special written message with representatives of the three -day ’12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia’. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal and other persons including Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma attended the inaugural session.
In his message, the Prime Minister highlighted the role of 3R (Reduce, Reues and Recycles) and ‘Circular Economy’ principles in ensuring sustainable urban development and resource efficiency.
The Prime Minister highlighted India’s leadership in global sustainability efforts, including ‘Mission Life’ (lifestyle for the environment) and ‘Panchamrit Lakshya’ announced in COP 26, which strengthens India’s commitment to the net-zero future.
During his address, Manohar Lal exposed Jaipur as an idol venue due to his deep rooted traditions in sustainability, such as rainwater harvesting and recycled materials.
Putting forward PM Modi’s vision, he announced the Cities Coalition for Circulatory (C-3), which is a multi-nation alliance for city-by-city cooperation, knowledge-sharing and private sector participation.
The Union Minister said, “We propose that a working group of member countries should be formed after this platform to finalize the structure and operational framework of the coalition.”
Manohar Lal said, “Circular economy is not just an environmental responsibility but an economic need.”
The minister also talked about India’s focus on bio-CNG, plastic waste management and e-waste recycling, which confirmed the government’s resolve to create low carbon, resource-skilled society.
Manohar Lal announced that the platform would adopt the Jaipur Declaration (2025-2034), which is a non-political, non-comprehensive commitment, which will guide the next decade of efforts towards resource efficiency and sustainable urban development.
