
India won three medals in the Archery World Cup Stage 2 in Shanghai on Saturday (10 May 2025). The men’s compound team won gold, the women’s team won the silver and the mixed team won the bronze medal. The men’s compound team consisted of Abhishek Verma, Ojas Deotale and Rishabh Yadav. This team won the gold medal by defeating Mexico by 232-228 points in the final. India defeated Denmark 232-231 in the semi-finals. This team scored the highest 2134 points in the qualifying round, which gave them a bye (direct entry) in the first round. He then traveled ahead by defeating Great Britain 239-232 in the quarterfinals.
In the women’s compound team, Jyoti Surekha Vennam, Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Chikita Taniparthi won the silver medal. In the final, India lost to the strong Mexico team 221-234. Although the defeat was one -sided, Indian women performed brilliantly throughout the tournament and secured second place.
The women’s team also found the highest in the first round by scoring the highest 2114 points in the qualification. He defeated Kazakhstan 232-229 in the quarterfinals and Great Britain 232-230 in the semi-finals. The world’s number one archer Ella Gibson was also included in the Great Britain team.
The third medal for India was given by the mixed compound team. The pair of Abhishek Verma and Madhura Dhamangaonkar defeated Malaysia in a bronze medal match.
It is clear from these results that India’s hold in compound archery is constantly getting stronger. For the first time in the Los Angeles Olympics of 2028, compound archery will be included, and it will only have a mixed team competition. India’s performance strengthens the hope of winning the first medal in the Olympics.
