London:
A British Kashmiri professor of politics and international relations at London -based Westminster University has claimed that Indian authorities have canceled their overseas Indian citizenship (OCI) due to alleged “anti -India activities”.
Nitasha Kaul posted a letter of letter received from the Government of India on social media on Sunday, accusing him of “being inspired by maliciousness and completely disregard of facts or history”. The development came out after his previous post in February, when the educationist allegedly retaliated for not allowing India to attend a conference in Bengaluru.
He said, “The idea is to give an indication – do not dare to challenge us from inside and do not dare to analyze what is happening to convey the message to the outside people.”
Under the OCI rules set by the Indian High Commission in London, the Government of India can cancel an OCI registration of any person on certain grounds such as expressing maliciousness on behalf of the migrant citizen established by the Act.
Kaul has been accused of “many hostile writing, speeches and journalism activities” in an excerpt from the alleged revision document received from the Government of India, which “targets India and his institutions in matters of sovereignty of India”.
The director of the ‘Center for Study of Democracy’ at Westminster University condemned the cancellation of OCI, described it as “a cruel example of bad intentions, ventilation, international repression” and claimed that they have been punished for “scholarly work on anti -minority and anti -democracy policies”.
The case has been contacted for a statement from the Indian High Commission in London.
