The US Donald Trump government first arrested the Indian researcher, Badar Khan Suri, who was doing research at a top American university and then threatened that he would be taken out of the country. He was allegedly accused of spreading propaganda related to Hamas. Now an American judge has issued an order on Thursday, 20 March and banned them from being expelled from America.
Badar Khan Suri is a postdorter Fellow at Georgetown University. His custody occurred when there was an apprehension in the academic world that there was a challenge of research and freedom of speaking during the new term of US President Donald Trump.
Subsequently, on Thursday evening, Judge Petricia Tillivor Giles of the East District of Virginia Court ordered that “he (Suri) will not be expelled from America until the court issues any opposite order.”

Georgetown University has stated in a statement that Dr. Badar Khan Suri is an Indian citizen who was duly granted visas to come to the US to continue his doctoral research on peace establishment in Iraq and Afghanistan. The university said, “We are not aware of their involvement in any illegal activity, and we have not received any reason for his custody.”
According to a report by Politico, Badar Khan Suri was arrested from his house in Arlington, Virginia on Monday. Homeland Security Department spokesman Trisia McLaglin said on the social media platform X that Suri is a student who was actively promoting Hamas and promoting anti -Jewish spirit on social media. ”
