Indian tablet market wonders in 2024, tremendous jump of 42% in shipment

The Indian tablet market has recorded a strong growth in 2024, with the total shipment to 5.73 million units, which is an increase of 42.8 percent on an annual basis. This information was given in a recent latest report. According to data from IDC’s ‘Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker’, both detachable and slate tablets have contributed significantly to this growth, with 30 percent and 47.2 percent annual growth respectively.

The consumer segment was strong due to attractive online promotion, discounts and cashback offers and this segment increased by 19.2 percent on an annual basis. Despite being more than 60 percent of the shipment entry-level tablet, the average selling price (ASP) in the consumer segment increased from $ 309 in FY 2023 to $ 336 in FY 2024.

69.7 percent growth in commercial segment

The report said that the commercial segment performed even more better, which increased by 69.7 percent compared to the previous year, mainly due to a huge increase of 104.5 percent in the demand for tablets in educational institutions. The education projects funded by the government promoted this growth, while the Vary Large Business (VLB) segment declined by 9.9 percent in the previous year.

IDC India and South Asia’s research analyst Priyansh Tiwari said, “With better cameras, software updates and app integration in Android Tablet, tablets are becoming a preferred device for low production and entertainment and attracting a particular class of PC buyers.”

Samsung dominates Indian tablet market in 2024

The report said that Samsung dominated the Indian tablet market in 2024, which won a total of 42.6 percent. The company leads both commercial and consumer segment with 51.1 percent and 32.1 percent stake respectively. Acer Group finished second in the market in 2024 with 18.7 percent stake.

Apple finished third with 11 percent market share. The brand recorded a great increase in both commercial and consumer sectors, which was 45.3 percent and 4.7 percent annually.

Xiaomi join the fastest growing brand in 2024

Lenovo and Xiaomi finished fourth with 9 percent market share. The report said that Lenovo saw an increase of 18.6 percent annually in the consumer segment. Xiaomi’s tablet shipment increased by 101.7 percent on an annual basis, making it one of the fastest growing brands in 2024. New product launch as well as Xiaomi’s focus on both online and offline sales channels helped increase its market share.
