He made his first class debut for Bihar in January 2024, at that time his age was only 12 years and 284 days.

During his debut, Vaibhav scored 71 off 42 balls against Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, and became the youngest Indian to score List-A half-century. On the international stage, Vaibhav set a record of the fastest young Test century by an Indian by scoring a century against Australia in Chennai. He also played an important role in taking India to the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup final with two important half-centuries.
