Suryakumar Yadav is currently one of the best T20 players. He not only score runs at a fast pace, but the cameo innings that comes in the last over, which helps the team to score big. However, his form has declined in recent times. In the last 17 innings, Suryakumar has been able to score only 429 runs at an average of 26.81 while batting for India. However, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya said that he is not worried about the form of Suryakumar Yadav.
Hardik Pandya said during the pre-match conference, “We are not worried about Sky. He has scored a lot of runs in so many years. I or we are not worried about his form.” Hardik further said, “I am not very worried. He had some practice games, I wish you would have been there to see him. Sometimes, he is played, and the way he has played, it is fantastic to see the way he has gone. When he fails, we all feel fine, he is also a human.”
Let me tell you, Hardik Pandya also made it clear in this press conference that not Rohit Sharma but Suryakumar Yadav will lead Mumbai Indians in the first match of the season. Actually, Pandya will not be available for the first match of Mumbai Indians season, as he is banned for a match. The team had registered a slow over-rate in the final league match of IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which was also his third crime of the season.
Suryakumar captained Mumbai in an IPL match in 2023. Pandya said, “Suryakumar Yadav also captains India. He will captain Mumbai Indians in the first match of IPL 2025. I am lucky to play three captains with me – Rohit, Surya and Bumrah. They always put their hands on my shoulder and whenever I need any help, they are always present.”
At the same time, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene was also present in this press conference, who spoke about the Mumbai-Chennai match, saying, “This is a challenge for both teams. I have always enjoyed this match, and I am excited for it. There is some more enthusiasm for the team.”
