Iran’s President Masood Pageshkian condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Indian -administered Kashmir and stressed the need for regional cooperation to face terrorism. In a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pageshkian said that the Republic of Islamic strongly condemns such inhuman acts of terrorism.

Pageshkian stressed that these tragic events increase the common responsibility of all the countries of the region and force the regional states to eradicate the roots of terrorism through sympathy, solidarity and intimate cooperation, which can ensure permanent peace and harmony for the countries of the region.

The President said that Iran gives great respect to the Indian nation and its prominent persons like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru – who were messengers of peace, friendship and co -existence. He also hoped that this feeling will remain in India’s relations with all countries.

He hoped to expand more trade and cooperation in more trade and infrastructure about the mutual economic relations between Iran and India. The President said that the development of Chabahar port can serve as a center for strategic dialogue in the area and an important contact point between Iran, India and Russia. Pageshkian also invited the Indian Prime Minister to come to Tehran and said that Iran is keen to discuss ways to strengthen widespread cooperation with India in a friendly and creative environment.

PM Modi appreciated Iran’s sympathy for the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam and said that New Delhi fully agrees with Tehran’s perspective that the fight against terrorism requires unity and widespread cooperation of all countries of the region. He also praised Iran’s creative role in promoting peace and security and said that India supports the efforts of the Islamic Republic to increase regional and international stability.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the need for a diplomatic solution for differences, including differences between Iran and the United States. He expressed deep grief over the horrific explosion at Shahid Rajai port and informed India’s readiness to help Iran after this incident. Modi also gave his heartfelt greetings to the Iranian President, expressed his hopes for the health of the supreme leader of the Islamic revolution and expressed his aspirations for the continuous progress of the great nation of Iran.
