Israel and Palestinian organization Hamas have agreed for ceasefire. Talks were going on between the two for a few days regarding ceasefire and exchange of prisoners. According to information received from sources, this conversation has yielded positive results. Israel and Hamas have agreed to stop the 15-month-long war in Gaza. During the ceasefire, Hamas will release Israeli citizens held hostage in Gaza. In return, Israel will also release Hamas people. However, an official announcement regarding this ceasefire is yet to be made. Let us tell you that there is a war going on between Israel and Hamas since October 7, 2023.
AFP had said in its report on Monday that the first phase of ceasefire between Israel and Hamas could last for a total of 42 days. In the first phase of the ceasefire deal, Hamas can release 33 hostages, including 5 women. Whereas Israel will release 250 Palestinian prisoners in return. After 15 days, Hamas will release the remaining hostages. Meanwhile, both sides will also keep talking about permanent ceasefire.
According to AFP information, the last talks between Israel and Hamas regarding the ceasefire deal were held in Qatar on January 14. Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Al Thani hosted this conversation. Israeli intelligence agency Mossad chief David Barnia and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar were involved in the ceasefire deal. From the US side, Trump’s representative Steve Witkoff and Biden’s representative Brett McGurk were present.
After this deal, about 11 lakh people sent from North Gaza to South Gaza will be given permission to go to their old place. The remaining details regarding the ceasefire deal are to be revealed in the coming time.
According to CNN report, as soon as the ceasefire is announced, a buffer zone will be created between Gaza and Israel. Israel is demanding a buffer zone of up to 2 kilometers from the border, while Hamas wants a buffer zone of 300 to 500 meters as before October 2023. The final decision regarding the buffer zone is yet to be taken.
