New Delhi:
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to do miracles in space. ISRO has come very close to completing the ‘Space Docking Experiment’ (SPADEX) mission. This is a historic moment, ISRO on Sunday brought both Spadex satellites ‘Spadex 01’ and ‘Spadex 02’ about 3 meters closer to each other. ISRO said in a post on X, the spacecraft have been moved to a safe distance and the docking process will be done after data analysis. ISRO has also shared pictures related to the mission.

- ISRO is just a few meters away from creating space history. The Space Docking Experiment mission currently has two satellites, SDX01 (chaser) and SDX02 (target), in good condition. The distance between them is only 3 meters. They will be brought closer.
- The Space Docking Experiment mission was launched on 30 December. The objective of this mission is to achieve success in docking in space using small spacecraft. ISRO is moving towards completing this mission soon. The PSLV C60 rocket carrying two 220 kg satellites lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota and placed the spacecraft in a 475 km orbit.
- If ISRO succeeds in this mission, India will be the fourth country to master the complex technologies that are important for its future missions. Before India, Russia, China and America have achieved this mission.
- Space docking is a process in which two spacecraft join each other. It is a complex process, which involves bringing both the vehicles into the same orbit, synchronizing their speed and direction and then bringing them close to each other with great precision.
- The Spadex project has already missed two deadlines for ‘docking’ experiments on January 7 and 9. ISRO had successfully sent the Space Docking Experiment (SPADEX) mission into space on December 30.
- Is this mission of ISRO so important… Actually, this technology is essential for India’s space ambitions like Indian mission to the Moon, bringing back samples from the Moon, construction and operation of the Indian Space Station (BAS), etc. Through this mission, India is poised to become the fourth country in the world to have space docking technology.
- The Space Docking Experiment technology is considered an important milestone in the field of space travel and will significantly enhance India’s space capabilities.
